Natural shimmer lip balm combines nourishing coconut oil, Shea butter and beeswax with naturally shimmery mica powder and essential oils. I also use beet root powder for a red tint or raw cocoa powder for a darker, brown tint. The beeswax helps the coconut oil penetrate your lips over time, which creates a soothing effect on cracked or sore winter lips, and a smooth, shimmery glow to spring and summer lips. Easy to make, and here is how:

  1. Organic virgin coconut oil
  2. Raw organic Shea butter or coco butter
  3. White beeswax pellets
  4. Rose red or gold mica powder

Put 1 TBSP of the Shea or coco butter and 1 Tbsp plus 1 tsp of beeswax into a cheap garage sale metal pan and turn heat to 2-3. Shake the pan as the oils melt together, and more toward the end to get the last of the beeswax to thoroughly melt.

Remove the pan from the heat and add 1/2 tsp of mica powder and 10-15 drops of whatever essential oil you are favoring at the moment. Stir well until everything is well mixed, then pour into lip balm tins and let them set up. I sometimes put them in the fridge for 10-15 minutes, then put the lids on them and store at room temperature.

You can use your finger or a Q-tip to put it on your lips or buy small lip brushes and give them as gifts or party favors to your friends or guests.

You can also color your lip balm with beet root powder for a luscious red tint or or raw cacao powder for a darker brownish tint.
